Iron Infusion Therapy
Iron Infusions
Iron infusions at IV SMiles Hydration & Wellness are a medically necessary treatment for individuals with documented iron deficiency who meet clinical criteria. This is not an elective wellness infusion and is not intended for individuals who simply want to check their iron levels.
Who Qualifies?
Patients may qualify if they:
-
Have a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant referral/order for iron infusion therapy, or
-
Have a documented history of moderate to severe iron deficiency anemia with recent laboratory studies supporting the need for treatment.
Prior to scheduling an infusion, our clinical team will review your medical records and laboratory results to determine whether you meet eligibility requirements.
Required Laboratory Results
To determine if IV iron is medically appropriate, we review recent laboratory testing, which may include:
-
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
-
Hemoglobin
-
Hematocrit
-
Ferritin
-
Serum Iron
-
Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC)
-
Transferrin Saturation (TSAT)
Iron infusions are reserved for patients whose laboratory values and medical history demonstrate clinically significant iron deficiency. Not every patient with fatigue or a low-normal iron level requires IV iron therapy. (AAFP)
Scheduling An Infusion

Important Information
Please do not schedule an iron infusion simply to find out whether your iron is low.
If you have symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, restless legs, or heavy menstrual bleeding but have never been evaluated for iron deficiency, we recommend scheduling an appointment with your primary care provider for an appropriate medical evaluation and laboratory testing before considering IV iron therapy.
Safety is Priority
Iron infusions are administered in a closely monitored medical setting.
Every iron infusion at IV SMiles is:
-
Administered only by a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner
-
Performed under established medical protocols
-
Continuously monitored throughout the infusion
-
Supervised with a licensed nurse present during the entire treatment
-
Equipped with emergency medications and equipment should a rare infusion reaction occur
What To Bring
Please have the following available before scheduling:
-
Recent laboratory results (typically within the last 30-60 days)
-
Your provider referral or order, if applicable
-
A current medication list
-
Relevant medical records if your iron deficiency has been managed by another provider
*Iron infusions require clinical review and approval before an appointment is confirmed.
Submitting a booking request does not guarantee eligibility. Our nursing staff will review your records and contact you if additional information is needed before treatment can be scheduled.
